Nothing is more discouraging
than other bands and musicians with the same dream as you, who have been in your position before, write other bands off by refusing any local acts to open up for them. And for a “Christian” band…that’s pretty whack and not very Christ-like.

Just Black
All that glitters is gold. At least that’s what they tell us and so by default, it’s what we know. When the clouds hang low and grace our presence with the threat of snow, we close our eyes to spite the sun - now hiding behind storms misunderstood. We wait for winter to pass and hope it doesn’t last past March. Because we know that there is greener scenery in the next...

Seasonal Depression?
Sources say it won’t help, but I think that 10 minutes in a tanning bed and a bottle of wine would do just fine.

Hypothetically...
…say the skies turn black and everyone we know turn their backs. As the rain crashes down to the sideways, the ones who promised they’d love us walked away in disdain. Say the puddles drown the streets and all that’s left are the shoes on our feet, soaking in ice cold desperation and we can’t find our way back to salvation. Say that rain makes it up to our waists, ...

Yeah, I'm pissed.
I’m just generally angry about the lack of respect in the music industry. In performers. In listeners. In general. I’m angry that some so called “musicians” in these trendy metalcore bands are all the rage. And you know, some of these musicians are tremendously talented and intelligent, and they may even desire to take a different approach to their music, but the vast...

I think there is a misunderstanding.
I appreciate the love and support, I really do! However, my “war on drugs” has nothing to do with personal addictions. I have none…except for maybe popcorn. My battle is for those that I’ve been surrounded by all my life who are suffering from their own addictions. Family has been involved in gangs, convicted of crimes, friends have wound up in hospitals and caught up in...

A snowy winter is more depressing than consistent cloud coverage and rain, because then at least there is greenery. Out here in Winter Wonderland everything is just…dead.

I need to:
Spend a day or two in Kalamazoo and do nothing but drink coffee, do some writing and spend time with my friends, uninterrupted. I also need to spend a few days in Waterford and do the exact same thing. Visit Detroit and find my way back to my roots. Social media isn’t keeping me connected, anymore…if it ever really did.

jenn-caboom: It’s been a while since I have talked about my infertility. This is my only outlet anymore besides the Facebook infertility support group that is becoming almost unbearable to go to anymore. I try to forget it-honestly I do. Around the holidays is the most difficult time in having this disease(… Is it okay that I reblog this? I think it’s really important to share as I...

Or does it sneak up on you in blooms of yellow and bright green? Do you go from the dark, dead of winter and all the sudden, without a clear realization of how or when it happened, you’re shading yourself under a beautiful Box Elder from the sun that refuses to set until 9pm?  This weekend was truly a blessing. It all happened so fast and unexpectedly, but I really couldn’t thank the...

Lawless
I am immovable. I am immortal. I am elevated by love and destroyed by silence. I am focused. I am in flight but I am sorrowed by the sight of our hearts crumbling. I question everything but I am certain of my purpose. We breathe for a reason and I will not accept that my breathing is fruitless. I have found weightlessness in the demolition of resistance. My soul is a vessel to carry...

The Prayer of a Dying Athiest
To Whom This May Concern: Perhaps there is sound reason for our slow motion, lost in translation in the curves of our rotation. I missed the best part when I bowed over in frustration and we lost ourselves in the colors of our infatuation. Please push me a little further; if you’re real God, I need you here. Remind me that when we’ve reached the bottom, it’s only fear...

If we lived every day like we were going to die...
We’d learn how to say “no.” We’d embrace our needs. Whether those were purely our own or the need to fulfill another’s. We’d kiss more. Hold hands more. What we wouldn’t do is run out to buy the next fucking iPhone. We wouldn’t care about shoes, video games and definitely not about student loans. We wouldn’t waste our money on television...

Mark My Words
Metal Evolution: “Grunge” just reinstated my excitement for music. Yeah, it was 20 years ago, but have you heard the shit music that’s been out since then?! We (as in you and your band, my band and I) are on a mission and were going to use our influences, be it punk, hardcore, metal or grunge, to change the scene.

She stopped the car. 1:02am the clock read as she glanced down to her dashboard. The city lights had faded from her rear view mirror and now only dark skies and rows of small blue lights filled her surroundings. The airport was the only place she could find any peace and quiet this time of night. While her friends pranced the busy streets downtown, she found herself buried in a complicated love...

“Human beings like to have one foot with God and the other with darkness…most people want Divine beings to do the spiritual work for them-that’s why they give their religious institutions money, so their rabbis, priests, or swamis will pray for them.” -Kelly Cutrone You know, I have no problem with taking a stand. In fact, I highly encourage others to be brave enough...

amorningofsleep asked: Oh man. I took a History of Rock class years ago and it was awesome. It was mainly a lot of Motown and how that branched out to the type of music that's around today. Awesome. Plus, my final paper was all about 70's prog rock.

There is, and always will be, music that takes you...
Really though, what is music’s purpose if not to be the one tangible thing that we can always rely on to invoke emotion, create energy and move the spirit? We all cling to a different religion or none at all. We each have a different approach to art or none at all, but who on earth can say that there is not one type of music that they embrace? One genre or sound - even the music that the...
